Constitutional complaint against copyright law amendments fails
18/03/2010 The Federal Constitutional Court has rejected a constitutional challenge by two authors of cinematographic works against various revisions of the Copyright Act. The appellants had complained about various provisions of the revisions in relation to rights to unknown types of use, which had been made in the course of the so-called 'second basket' of the copyright law reform.

05/11/2009 In the recent federal elections Chancellor Angela Merkel was re-elected and formed a coalition with her preferred partner, the pro-business Free Democratic Party. The coalition agreement appears to promise continuity with regard to the funding of film production. However, the agreement also contains some small surprises regarding the new government's plans in relation to copyright law.
