ILO Directory can be used to search for either a law firm or a lawyer.
If you are unsure of the exact name of the law firm or lawyer you require, please enter only part of the word(s) you know to be correct. If there are no results for two or more words, the search will be repeated for the first word only. The same rules apply for any free text search.
If the name of a firm or a lawyer contains an accent, you can search either with or without the accent. For example, 'Associés' will be found by entering 'Associes'.
Firm Name: Enter the name or part of the name of the law firm that you wish to find. If you leave this field blank, all firms will be searched.
Lawyer Surname: Enter the surname or part of the surname of the lawyer you wish to search for.
Country: Select one country from the drop-down list.
City: Enter the city in which you wish to search for a law firm or lawyer. Cities are written in their standard English spelling - for example, 'Milan', not 'Milano'.

Work Area: Select a category from the drop-down list of general work areas. These general work areas also include more specific practice areas. For example, if you search for 'Intellectual Property' you will find not only firms or lawyers that have Intellectual Property listed as a work area, but also those with Patents.
To select more than one work area at a time, hold down the 'Ctrl' key on your keyboard as you make the selections. The results of the multiple search will fulfil all of the criteria you have requested. For example, a search for 'Insurance/Reinsurance' and 'Litigation' will only produce firms or lawyers who are listed under both Insurance/Reinsurance and Litigation.
Work Area Keyword: Enter a more specific work area to search for - for example, 'Patents'.
Languages: Select a language from the drop-down list. To select more than one language at a time, hold down the 'Ctrl' key on your keyboard as you make the selections. The results of the multiple search will fulfil all of the criteria you have requested. For example, searching for 'French' and 'German' will only produce firms which are listed under both French and German.
Languages relate only to firms, not individual lawyers.
Show Results By: Results are displayed alphabetically by either firm name or country.
Show Lawyers: This needs to be selected in order to search for lawyers. Please note that results will only be returned for lawyers who currently list biographies in the ILO Directory.
When you have filled in the criteria for your search, click on the 'Search' button to produce the results.
If no results are found, click on 'Modify Search' to change or remove search criteria.
Alternatively, click the 'Reset' button to begin a new search.
