Raymond R Mandra’s practice focuses on the areas of patent
counselling, contentious proceedings before the US Patent
and Trademark Office, application writing, prosecution and due
diligence primarily involving the chemical, food, pharmaceutical
and biotechnological sciences. He is chair of Fitzpatrick, Cella,
Harper & Scinto’s biotechnology practice group and speaks
frequently on important topics to the biotechnological and
pharmaceutical industries.
Mr Mandra has provided counsel on numerous chemical
and pharmaceutical patent applications and patents for various
clients, including Astellas Pharma, Bristol-Myers Squibb,
Genzyme, Leo Pharma, Novartis, Pfizer, Sanofi and Warner
Chilcott. He has also been substantially involved in various
patent litigations, re-examinations, interferences and reissues.
Mr Mandra is presently lead counsel in a number of
inter partes
re-examinations representing both requestors and patentees.
Prior to entering the field of IP law, Mr Mandra spent nine
years working as a chemist. His technological background
has been instrumental in facilitating his quick understanding
of the technology that is important to his clients.
Mr Mandra was listed in the
Legal 500
in patent litigation
from 2007 to 2010. He was also listed as a
Legal 500
leading
lawyer in for patent re-examination in 2008 and for patent
prosecution in 2010 and 2011. Mr Mandra was selected
by
Patent Buddy
2011 as a top patent prosecutor in
pharmaceutical biotechnology. In the most recent
Legal 500
