Kiran Bhogal is head of healthcare at Weightmans’ London
office. She has 20 years’ experience of advising the health and
public sector on medico-legal issues, including mental health
law, child protection, complaints handling, complex and
sensitive inquests, risk management, clinical and corporate
governance, serious untoward incidents, homicide inquiries,
medical ethics (consent and confidentiality), judicial review,
public consultation, the Human Rights Act, Data Protection Act,
Freedom of Information Act and emergency applications for the
provision and withdrawal of treatment. Within primary care she
regularly advises on commissioning and funding decisions,
community and continuing care, contractual and performers’
list management and the pharmaceutical regulations.
In 2006 she qualified as a solicitor advocate (civil
proceedings) and was appointed as a deputy district judge.

has ranked Ms Bhogal as a leader in her field

and in a straightforward manner” and having an “excellent grasp
