Mr Patrick Walshe

Patrick graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1996 and qualified as a solicitor in 2000. He joined us from a large Dublin firm in 2007 as a Senior Associate in our Litigation and Dispute Resolution department.

He specialises in commercial litigation and dispute resolution and has extensive experience in large commercial trials, including litigation in Ireland’s commercial court. His practice areas include national and international contract disputes, employment, media and product liability law.

He has worked for government departments and semi-state bodies and advised a client for two years in the course of a hearing before the Moriarty Tribunal. He also has extensive experience in judicial review proceedings involving both public and private sectors.

From 2004 to 2006 he advised a Joint Committee of the Irish Parliament in an unprecedent judicial review of the Irish Constitution.

He also has wide experience in pre-publication advice for both newspapers and other publications and has worked with most major independent television production companies and has regularly reviewed new programmes in advance of broadcast as well as advising during the development process. Recently, he was a member of the National Newspapers of Ireland Legal Advisory Committee on the proposed changes to the defamation laws contained in the report of the Legal Advisory Group on Defamation.

From 2004 to 2007, he was the Legal adviser to RTE’s “CrimeCall”, the legal adviser to RTE’s “Seoige & O’Sé” from 2006 to 2007 and the legal adviser to RTE’s “The Big Bite” for its entire duration.
