Andrea De Matteis has been practising competition law since 1996 and representing clients in antitrust cases before the Italian Antitrust Authority and the European Commission, including several in-depth investigations. Recently, he successfully represented MasterCard in the Italian interchange fee investigation.
Prior to founding De Matteis Studio Legale, Mr. De Matteis headed the antitrust team of a major Italian firm for almost five years. Before that, he worked for ten years in Brussels as a managing associate at Linklaters, a case-handler at the European Commission (DG Competition) and an associate at WilmerHale.
Mr. De Matteis is admitted to practise before the Italian Supreme Court. He lectures on antitrust law at the University of Rome La Sapienza and the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He was nominated as best Italian antitrust professional in 2011 and 2012.
Andrea De Matteis holds a J.D. Summa cum Laude from the University of Florence (1995) and an LL.M. from New York University School of Law (1996).
