Mr Cameron Andrews

Cameron is a lawyer in the Intellectual Property and Litigation group.

Cameron joined Gilbert + Tobin in August 2004, and currently focuses on copyright and trade mark litigation and advice.

Cameron’s most recent major litigation matters include:

  • acting on behalf of a major Australian commercial television network in landmark High Court of Australia proceedings concerning copyright in data compilations;
  • enforcement proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia in relation to copyright in gaming machines;
  • enforcement proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia concerning circumvention of DVD copyright protection.

In addition to litigation, Cameron also undertakes commercial and regulatory work, including:

  • advising on regulatory issues in the telecommunications and gaming sectors,
  • acting for telecommunications clients in access disputes before the ACCC;
  • advising on consumer protection issues;
  • drafting commercial agreements; and 
  • secondments as in-house legal counsel.

Cameron has also been a member of Gilbert + Tobin's Competition and Regulatory group where he focused on competition, regulation and access issues.

In 2005, Cameron spent six months as a pro-bono secondee to the Cape York Land Council in Cairns acting for applicants in native title claims.

Prior to joining the firm, he held roles in the offices of both Commonwealth and State Parliamentarians where he advised on policy and legislation.

Cameron was admitted as a solicitor in February 2005. He has qualifications in Law (First Class Honours) from the University of Technology, Sydney, and Economics (Social Sciences) from the University of Sydney.
