A new Personal Data Protection Law came into force on November 11 2000. While Congress has attempted to protect individuals' and entities' rights of privacy, it has chosen not to restrict significantly the keeping of credit information.

The Argentine Securities Commission has authorized online trading of interests in mutual funds. However, only managing companies and agents that obtain the commission's permission to trade over the Internet may do so.
