Recent amendments to several provisions of the Code of Commerce affect the appeals system. In particular, contraventions of an incidental or procedural nature by the trial courts must now be contested in a preventive appeal within three working days of the date on which the parties are notified of the ruling or interlocutory decision.

Although legislative changes have sought to confirm the evidentiary value of electronic communications, the judiciary has not always understood the reasoning behind the new principles or applied them uniformly. However, the trend in court decisions appears to offer greater legal certainty as to the use of electronic information as evidence.
