The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation has further expanded the reach of sanctions in respect of Belarus to cover an additional 40 individuals.

40 individuals have been designated at EU level and have been added to the consolidated list. 5 of these individuals were previously sanctioned under the UK's Global Human Rights regime and are now subject to an asset freeze under both this regime and the EU regime.

The change also updated information for a further 4 individuals under the Belarus regime, bringing the information in line with EU rules.

As reported in our previous blog post, when the UK first imposed such sanctions at the end of September, they targeted Alexander Lukashenko, his son and senior figures in the Belarusian government.

The full list of individuals now targeted by financial sanctions by the UK government can be accessed here.
