On May 10 2018 the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released its Notice to Further Clear and Regulate the Internet Access Service Market.(1)

According to the notice, the campaign to clear and regulate the internet access service market has been extended to March 31 2019 in order to solidify the accomplishments achieved and investigate the issues found thus far pursuant to the notice of the same name issued by the MIIT on January 22 2017.

The previous notice initiated a campaign to investigate and stop illegal or irregular operations in the internet access service market, including:

  • unlicensed business activities;
  • operations beyond the licensed scope and multiple-layer sublet of internet data centre services;
  • internet service provider services; and
  • content distribution network services.
