On 13 January 2021 the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued the Circular on Launching the Pilot Programme on Classified and Graded Management of Cybersecurity of Industrial Internet Enterprises.(1)
The pilot programme is initially scheduled to launch in 15 provinces (ie, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government),(2) taking into consideration:
- the development of the industrial Internet in different regions; and
- different regions' willingness to participate in the programme.
The circular provides that the pilot programme will:
- perfect the rationality, effectiveness and operability of the rules, standards, classification procedures and grading for industrial internet cybersecurity and security-series protection specifications for the industrial Internet;
- accelerate the construction of a classified and graded management system for cybersecurity of industrial internet enterprises;
- form a reproducible, popularised, classified and graded cybersecurity management model for industrial internet enterprises; and
- produce:
- typical solutions for industrial internet cybersecurity;
- excellent demonstration enterprises; and
- professional service organisations.
