In the first quarter of 2020, the Network Security Department of the national public security organs reportedly developed its functions, strengthened the protection of citizens' personal information and investigated and dealt with 386 illegal apps for collecting citizens' personal information in accordance with the law, including multiple types of app (eg, information consultation, auxiliary learning, literary novels and news and entertainment broadcasts). In summary, 97 app service entities were given administrative penalties, 192 app service entities were ordered to correct illegal activities in accordance with the law and 51 apps were delisted and suspended.(1)
