On 8 November 2018 the National Information Security Standardisation Technical Committee held a meeting to commence the pilot work on the Information Security Technology – Guidelines for Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) Security Examination Assessment (For Approval).(1)

The pilot work will focus on the reasonability and practicability of the guidelines. Twelve CII operators from the telecoms, internet, transportation, energy, finance, e-government and public services industries, among others, have been selected as pilot units. The examination and assessment will be conducted by third-party assessment institutions under the instruction of a panel of experts from related CII security protection fields.

Meeting attendees included more than 60 professionals from:

  • the Cybersecurity Administration of China;
  • the expert panel;
  • CII operators; and
  • third-party assessment institutions.
