Corporate & Commercial India

Corporate and commercial law has been a major focus for companies worldwide, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which continues to affect contracts. There has also been an increased focus on board composition (particularly with regard to gender balance) and directors’ duties and liability.

In this series, ILO caught up with some of our leading specialists around the world to discuss the three main corporate and commercial issues affecting their jurisdiction in 2020 and what we should look out for in 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on the Indian corporate and commercial world. The government's response has included monetary relief packages and many relaxations for private and listed companies under the Companies Act 2013. Due to lockdowns and travel restrictions, parties' ability to perform contractual obligations and time-critical deals has been adversely affected.

In the below video, Vineet Aneja discusses these matters and the potential impact that they may have on companies in India.
