Matthew Kirtland is a partner at the Washington DC office of
Fulbright & Jaworski, having joined the firm in 1997. His practice
focuses on dispute resolution, with a particular emphasis on
international and domestic arbitration and complex civil
litigation. He is head of the international arbitration group
at the Washington DC office. Mr Kirtland has represented
corporate and individual clients from a diverse range of
industries, including energy, satellite television, oilfield
services, pharmaceuticals, utilities, banking and finance,
telecommunications and healthcare.
Mr Kirtland has first and second-chair experience in
proceedings before the London Court of International
Arbitration, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution,
the International Chamber of Commerce, the International
Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes and the American
Arbitration Association, and in
ad hoc
proceedings using the
United Nations Commission on International Trade Law rules,
as well as various other, specialised rules of procedure. He
also has extensive federal and state court experience at both
the trial and appellate level.
Mr Kirtland teaches, publishes and speaks regularly in
the field of international arbitration.
