Vincent Sol focuses his operations on the regulatory and
transactional aspects of environmental law, both French
and European, and assists his clients in actions before
administrative, criminal and civil authorities. He is widely
recognised as an expert in the field of environmental law,
notably on the environmental aspects of European transactions,
including auditing for issues and potential risks and the
allocation of such risks among the parties in real estate and
corporate transactions. Mr Sol has been involved in more
than 1,000 sites as part of operations linked to the transfer
and clean-up of polluted sites.
Mr Sol has been a member of the Committee for the
Prevention of Technological Risks (CSPRT) since 1998. The
CSPRT advises the Ministry of Ecology about the development
of legislative and regulatory documents relating to the
environment. Furthermore, since 2002, he has been in charge
of the Working Group on Polluted Sites, which falls under the
aegis of the CSPRT.
Before joining Winston & Strawn, Mr Sol worked for a lawyer
in the Supreme Administrative Court and the Supreme Court,
later moving to the legal department of energy company EDF,
where he dealt with environmental and EU law issues. He also
worked for a US law firm in Paris for eight years, creating and
developing its environmental law practice.
Mr Sol is cited as a leading individual in all leading
directories and listings of environmental experts, with many
also recognising him as a prominent specialist in environment
and sustainable development law.
