Jonas Benedictsson heads the disputes group in Stockholm.
After graduation, he was an assistant judge in various courts
until 1986. He was admitted to the Swedish bar and became
a partner with Baker & McKenzie in 1992. He has tried cases
in all of Sweden’s major courts, including all appellate courts
and the Supreme Court. He has acted as lead counsel and
advocate in numerous domestic arbitrations and in more than
70 international arbitrations under leading bodies such as the
International Chamber of Commerce and the Stockholm
Chamber of Commerce. He has acted in matters from more
than 20 different jurisdictions, including Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan,
Ukraine, Russia, China, Turkey, Germany, Canada, the United
States and Italy. He is frequently appointed as an arbitrator.
Mr Benedictsson chaired Baker & McKenzie’s European
disputes group between 1996 and 2000 and remained on the
steering committee until 2009. He is on the steering committee
of the firm’s international arbitration group.
