ILO Client Choice Guide 2012
Tanguy de Haan is based in Brussels and practises mainly in
the area of patent and trademark litigation, at both EU and
national level. He has extensive experience before the Belgian
courts and appears frequently before the General Court and
the Court of Justice of the European Union (ECJ).
Mr de Haan and his team specialise in cross-border
litigation. He has particular expertise in handling pan-European
claims brought before the national or EU courts and
coordinating strategy for proceedings conducted simultaneously
in various European countries or before different EU bodies.
Mr de Haan can plead in English, Dutch and French.
His recent assignments include proceedings before the ECJ
(C 196/11P) regarding the F1-LIVE Community trademark, after
a full victory against Formula One Licensing before the General
Court (T-10/09); coordination of various national proceedings on
behalf of a German car manufacturer regarding the application
of EU law; and cross-border biotech patent litigation.
Mr de Haan has been mentioned in
Chambers Europe 2010
as “a rising star who offers an in-depth knowledge of Belgian
and EU law”.
He has been elected to the International Trademark
Association’s Europe
Amicus Curiae
Sub-committee for the
2012 to 2013 term, and is a member of the editorial board of
the French Association of Practitioners in Trademark and
Design Law.
Mr de Haan graduated
magna cum laude
from the University
of Louvain. He joined NautaDutilh in 2000 and was named a
counsel in the firm in 2010.
