Parliament Supports Draft Public-Private Partnership Bill

Parliament has given the green light to the draft Public-Private Partnership Bill. If enacted, the bill would establish the Public-Private Partnership Agency, which would consider investors' proposed financial projects and then submit the projects for approval to various ministries.

Implementing Regulations on Public Procurement

The new Public Procurement Act recently came into force. However, the Public Procurement Office - a regulatory body authorized to develop and coordinate the public procurement system – subsequently reported that enforcement of the act was suspended until the regulations necessary for its implementation were adopted. The newly adopted regulations have since come into force.

Draft Bill on Public Procurement

Parliament has discussed a new draft bill on public procurement which is expected to be implemented later in 2007. It is modelled on several EU regulations, including directives on the coordination of procedures for the award of public works contracts, public supply and public service contracts.
